With us now back in the Southern Combination Football League, having been laterally moved by the FA League Restructuring Committee from the South East Combination Football League, there will be people who will be wanting to visit us and see teams that we used to play in the past for many years, prior to the move to the SCFL in 2014.
There will be many away fans from the teams we now face in the SCFL, that may have never visited us before so hopefully this quick guide might help them find us and enjoy their visit, not only to the club but Crowborough in general.
Then, of course, there's the Ground Hopper who may come from anywhere, normally by rail but wherever they come from, they will definitely not know the area and therefore not know where the public houses are, where they can get a lunchtime meal, what the taxi cab numbers are or, indeed, how to get from the station to the ground if they wish to walk.
Therefore, herewith is a short guide that may help the Ground Hopper get to wherever he wants to go prior to getting to our ground or how to get here straight from the station on foot.

Walking direct from the station to the ground.
Using average walking speed it will take approximately 30 minutes to walk from the station to our ground, the Crowborough Community Stadium, and in distance terms it's roughly 1.3 miles.
As you come out of Crowborough station you need to turn right towards the main road, the now unfortunately closed Railway Tavern public house, (formerly known as the Welcome Stranger), will be on your left and at the junction, you need to turn right, this road is called Crowborough Hill (B2100) and you need to go under the rail bridge.
Proceed under the bridge for around 200 yards, as you go past St. Michaels & All Angels Church, which is on the left, you need to turn right in to Western Road which is quite a busy road with parked cars mainly on the left hand side.
From here there's about a mile to go and you will not have to leave Western Road until you come to a railway bridge after approximately 1/2 a mile, go over the bridge, there used to be public house called the Plough & Horses directly in front of you which has now been converted into various types of accommodation. You will need to keep this on your right hand side as you head up Walshes Road and the hill.
On your right directly after crossing the bridge, just for information, is a road called Mt. Pleasant and approximately 100 yards up this road is The Wheatsheaf public house, which is well worth a visit and the food there is very good. As you near the top of the hill there will be a parade of shops on your right, including a veterinary practice and then the road bears round to the right which you follow, ignoring the turning on your left.
This is where Walshes Road turns in to Fermor Road, even though you take no turning, after about 200 yards you'll see the ground on your left, enter the road called Aldervale Cottages and then turn first right almost immediately, you are now entering The Crowborough Community Ground, more commonly known in Crowborough as the Alderbrook Recreation Ground.

Walking direct from the station to the Town Centre.
Using average walking speed it will take approximately 39 minutes to walk from the station to the Town Centre, in distance terms, it's roughly 2 miles from the station to the Town Centre.
The Crowborough Cross, which is situated right on the traffic lights at the top of The High Street and the Eridge Road (A26), and is now a Wetherspoon establishment, offering the usual fair that their pubs serve up and is usually busy at all times.
As you come out of Crowborough station you need to turn right towards the main road, at the junction you need to turn left, this road is called Crowborough Hill (B2100) and you follow this road all the way to the Town Centre.
There is not much to see on this road as it's mainly residential houses although you will pass a Sainsbury's Local on the right, opposite Coppard's Plant Hire, after you have left the station. A bit further up you'll pass the Police Station on the right, it won't be open as it’s only used by the police for breaks but is an attractive old style building.
Also on the right, higher up, you'll pass the back of Beacon Academy and then you'll reach the White Hart public house, a nice place to have a drink and something to eat on your left and the Sir Henry Fermor School will be on your right.
Go straight over the mini roundabout, down the dip and up the other side and then you will come to the start of the Hight Street and the local shops. There are no large chain shops in Crowborough, other than supermarkets that is, so the shopping is therefore limited to local businesses and many of the shops are now vacant due to online shopping and shoppers travelling to larger towns.

Walking or driving from the Town Centre to the football club.
If you use the A26 you'll either turn left or right to get in to the High Street, at the traffic lights, depending if you've come from the Tunbridge Wells or Uckfield direction. Head down the High Street from the lights until you cross the zebra crossing after about 100 yards.
Then you'll need to bear right and turn in to Croft Road, you'll go over another zebra crossing, carry straight on past the front of Waitrose and then you'll come to a mini roundabout which you go straight over.
After 50 yards there's another mini roundabout, go straight over and follow the road round the 's' bend, an M&S Petrol Station will be on your right, and then head towards the next junction. At the junction of Myrtle Road on your left and Southview Road on your right, Croft Road changes in to Whitehill Road without you ever realising it so carry straight on.
Go down the hill and there will be a public house on your right hand side called The Bricklayers, (has been called The Whitehill Tavern previously), carry on past the pub and then you'll come to another mini roundabout, take the first exit left, this is the start of Fermor Road and take the second right, this is Aldervale Cottages and turn immediately right again, you're now entering The Crowborough Community Ground, more commonly known in Crowborough as the Alderbrook Recreation Ground.
